Assistant-Professor/Lecturer in Applied English Linguistics with special
emphasis on Second Language Writing - 200804/087 (10.04.2008) 

The Faculty of Foreign Languages Linguistics and Literature invites
applications for a new tenure-track position of Assistant-Professor/Lecturer
in Applied English Linguistics with special emphasis on Second Language
Writing. A successful applicant will take part in the re-organisation and
development of an English Writing Program, teach courses in English Academic
Writing, supervise students and pursue research in Second Language
Acquisition or Pedagogy. The applicant should have a doctorate in Applied
Linguistics or comparable field.  The applicant should have experience in
teaching and research and a clear research agenda in the relevant area. The
position demands near-native proficiency in English, good communication and
interpersonal skills. As the post also requires administrative duties, some
knowledge of Icelandic is desirable, or at least that the applicant be
willing to learn Icelandic.

The appointment will be from July 1, 2008, at the earliest.

The initial appointment will be for four years with the possibility of
tenure after that period in accord with the University of Iceland
Regulations  458/2000 3. 31.
