Applied Linguistics and Communication Studies.  The Linguistics 
Program at Iowa State University invites applications for a 
tenure-track Assistant Professor in Linguistics and Communications 
Studies.  We are particularly interested in applicants who specialize 
in the use of linguistic analysis for the study of computer-mediated 
communication.  The successful applicant must have a strong interest 
in and ability to teach one course (two sections per year) in the 
Interdisciplinary Communication Studies program such as 
computer-mediated communication, multi-modal communication, language 
thought and action (pragmatics), or cross-cultural 
communication.  The successful applicant will participate in the 
undergraduate program in Linguistics, the MA program in Teaching 
English as a Second Language/Applied Linguistics and the Ph.D. 
program in Applied Linguistics & Technology.  The appointment will 
begin August, 2008.

Successful candidates are expected to have a record of publications 
in high-quality refereed journals and show evidence of teaching 
proficiency. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a 
highly productive program of research with potential to secure 
extramural funding. The position includes a research-friendly 
teaching load. The salary is competitive and start-up funds are available.
