UN floats new guidelines for usage of ICT in education

 

Noting that just having a computer in classroom is not enough for imparting quality education, the United Nations has developed new guidelines to help instructors use Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools in a better way. 

The new guidelines "ICT Competency Standards for Teachers" was developed by the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in cooperation with technology giants Cisco, Intel and Microsoft, as well as the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech).
