Bridget,
Just wanted to let you know that I was approved yesterday to do the State
Department project in Mindanao, Philippines.
Thank you for the posting the announcement. I did some quick decision-making
and application drafting last weekend.

I have done a number of English Language Specialist assignments, but have
not been keeping up with recent postings as I've learned that certain areas
have had reduced funding.

While I'm using a upenn email for some of my language in education and
linguistics networking, I am not now employed by Penn--though I've been
allowed to keep this acct.

I wonder who took the university assignment in Palestine. The security risk
is a bit higher than Mindanao. Also the lead time was shorter (given
current commitments), and I would have had to do more preparation for
certain parts of the assignment. I've also done projects in Morocco and
Egypt but there were other factors. I've done several projects with the
emphases mentioned in the Mindanao description, and I've lived and worked in
SE Asia and have been to the Philippines on refugee work and vacation, but
never to the south.
Thanks for the alert!
Margaret
