*Positions Announcement*



Seoul National University (SNU) invites applications for full-time, open
rank, and tenure track positions in different disciplines. SNU seeks
international scholars with outstanding research and teaching credentials
who will play an integral role in the development, growth, and diversity of
their respective programs.



In accordance with the SNU policy stated above, the Department of English
Language Education, Seoul National University, is going to hire qualified
foreign (non-Korean) professors. The department is also going to hire
lecturers in the following areas.



*I. CATEGORIES AND NUMBERS OF POSITIONS *



*Category I: Tenure-track Faculty Position in SLA/Applied Linguistics*

A. Number of Positions: One (1)

B. Job Descriptions

1. Will carry out the same duties as full-time professors at Seoul National
University including teaching courses (3 classes (9 credit hours) per
semester), conducting research, and participating in various administrative
services.

2. Will also participate in supervising and reviewing undergraduate and
graduate students' thesis/ dissertations.

C. Qualifications

1.  Ph. D degree in Second Language Acquisition and/or Applied Linguistics
with specialization in English as a Foreign/Second Language

2. Teaching Experience at the university level

3. Native or near-native English speaker with non-Korean nationality

D. Benefits

A. Number of Positions: One (1)

B. Job Descriptions

1. Will teach a minimum of 3 courses (3 classes, 9 credit hours) per
semester of English speaking and/or writing.

2. Will spare office hours to meet the students for consultation and
inquiries.

C. Qualifications

1. A master's degree in an English related field (such as TESOL,
linguistics, English literature, etc.)

2. Teaching experience at the university level

3. Native or near-native English speaker with non-Korean nationality

D. Benefits

1. A twelve-month based salary. The salary will depend on qualifications and
career experience. (If the teaching load becomes more than 9 credit hours
per semester, the payment can be readjusted.)

2. Health Insurance and other benefits equivalent to other Seoul National
University full-time lecturers.

3. On campus housing at substantially below-market cost.

4. Reimbursement of relocation expenses.

5. Renewable contract. The contract will be renewed annually up to three
years. (In an exceptional case, the renewal can extend beyond the three
years.)



*Category III. *

A. Number of Positions: Two (2) Full-time English Lecturers



B. Job Descriptions

1. Will teach a minimum of 3 courses (3 classes, 9 credit hours) per
semester of English speaking and/or writing

2. Will spare office hours to meet the students for consultation and
inquiries.



C. Qualifications

1. A master's degree in an English related field (such as TESOL,
linguistics, English literature, etc.)

2. Native or near-native English speaker with non-Korean nationality



D. Payment and Others

1. 30,000,000 Won annually (roughly equivalent to US$30,000)

2. Health Insurance and other benefits equivalent to other Seoul National
University full-time lecturers.

3. On campus housing at substantially below-market cost.

4. Reimbursement of relocation expenses.

5. Renewable contract. The contract will be renewed annually up to three
years. (In an exceptional case, the renewal can extend beyond the three
years.)
