Language Testing Specialist

 

Division: Language Testing Division (LTD)

Hours per week: Full time (35)

Salary:  $37,470 - $52,996 (commensurate with experience)

Position Available: Immediately

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: 

Assist with research and test development for a large-scale English language assessment for K - 12 English language learners (ELLs), with a focus on test development for ELLs in Grades 6 - 8.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Review text and graphics of test items for content accuracy and grade-level appropriateness according to test specifications

* Write graphics descriptions, request graphics, request graphics revisions

* Review, edit, proof, and prepare test forms and ancillary materials

* Maintain and coordinate the test item database

* Perform key checks

* Prepare and maintain a variety of files and records (research summary reports, bibliographies, etc.) in support of research efforts

* Coordinate item development tasks of external consultants to ensure timely delivery of test items

* Write and review test materials and documents (charts, forms, schedules, etc.)

* Other tasks as assigned

 

NOTE: Limited travel is required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

At least a B.A./B.S. in Linguistics, Education, or related discipline. Master's (in ESOL, Teaching, or Reading) preferred.

 

Experience:

Successful candidate will have 3 or more years of experience working with English language learners (ELLs).  Teaching experience in the areas of reading, assessment, literacy and/or content area instruction is desirable. A commitment to improving education, particularly for ELLs, is essential. Ability to prioritize work, give attention to detail while meeting deadlines, and strong written and oral communication skills are essential.
