Those who love the language and heritage of Bangla will gather Friday in Irving to commemorate International Mother Language Day... In Irving, the Academy of Bangla Arts and Culture and the Bangladesh Association of North Texas will hold a program starting at 7 p.m. Friday at the State Bank of Texas, 605 W. Airport Freeway. The groups will commemorate the event with songs and poems. At the stroke of midnight, they will begin the laying of floral tributes, as the Bengalis do at the base of Shahid Minar, the monument in Dhaka, Bangladesh, to the martyrs of the language movement.
