Number of Gaelic schools needs to treble in bid to boost language

 

The number of dedicated Gaelic schools in Scotland will have to treble and the number of teachers being trained in the language quadruple over the next two years.

 

The ambitious targets will be needed if a plan to create a new generation of Gaelic speakers is to be met.

 

Bòrd na Gàidhlig, the statutory language development body, yesterday published its two year plan and ministers welcomed its focus on early years, Gaelic-medium education and adult learning.
