Biennial International Conference on Task-Based Language Teaching
Call for proposals to host the conference

The International Consortium on Task-Based Language Teaching (ICTBLT) invites proposals to host the TBLT 2013 conference. Proposals will be reviewed by the members of the ICTBLT, and they will vote on final selection of a conference host. Criteria for selection include capacity and experience of the hosts in organizing conferences as well as geographic diversity relative to previous conferences. In order to provide the ICTBLT with sufficient information for adjudicating this important decision, proposals should address the following categories (to the extent possible):

*	ORGANIZING COMMITTEE: who will take responsibility for planning and making the event happen; what experience do they have in organizing conferences; what is their relationship to or interest in TBLT?
*	CONFERENCE THEME: particular focus of this TBLT conference, and explicit link to TBLT issues, research, theory, practice.
*	DATES: specific dates for the conference, and cross-checking with other events (e.g., conflicts with other major conferences, availability of venues).
*	PROGRAM: tentative plans for the scope and focus of the event; who/what/how long/etc.; likely invited speakers.
*	SPECIAL FEATURES: special events (e.g., special colloquia, roundtables, teacher workshops).
*	SOCIAL EVENTS: possible additional experiences for conference participants.
*	FACILITIES: conference facilities, nearby places to eat, etc.
*	ACCOMMODATIONS: available accommodations and cost
*	TRANSPORTATION: the closest airports, train stations, public transportation (campus transportation), shuttles from accommodations to conference site, etc.
*	TECHNICAL SUPPORT: initial plans and/or staff for managing paper proposals, conference registration, technology issues (including web and other means for disseminating information about the conference), availability of projectors and other presentation media, etc.; also, any accessibility provisions (for the visually and hearing impaired, etc.)?
*	SPONSORS: possible sources of financial and personnel support for the conference.
*	CONFERENCE RATES: anticipated costs to attendees (registration, presentation fees, social events, etc.); exact figures are not required, though estimates would be helpful.
*	OTHER: any other details regarding the host organizing committee, venue, or other features that will help the ICTBLT in making the best choice of host.

NOTE: Hosts of the TBLT conference should expect to assume the responsibility for managing all financial and organizational aspects of the conference. While input and oversight will be contributed by the ICTBLT members, the local hosts take charge of all other aspects of hosting a conference.

Please send proposals as simple email text or attached MS Word document by no later than August 30, 2010, to John Norris, convener of the ICTBLT at: jnorris at hawaii.edu
