Your comments: Computer programs replace foreign language teachers in N.J. elementary schools

 

The Star-Ledger reported Sunday that several school districts had replaced several elementary school foreign language teachers and the classes they taught with computerized instruction. Ridgewood, in one instance of this swap, saved some $200,000 in salaries by spending an estimated $50,000 on software. In some cases, the computerized instruction is replacing a 30- or 40-minute per week traditional class in foreign language.
