Research Assistant


Language Education and Academic Development (LEAD)
Salary: $33,666-$48,113
Hours Per Week: 21 hours per week part-time (60% FTE)


Description of Duties:


This position involves work for several programs in CAL's Language Education and Academic Development division (LEAD) assisting with research and educational materials development.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


*	Create, edit, and proofread materials for teacher professional development 
*	Update on-line files of training materials 
*	Create, format, and edit K-12 curriculum materials; select and order commercial materials and supervise shipping 
*	Produce CDs: write educational songs; record; edit sound files 
*	Assist with survey research: Format instruments; create and populate databases; create data displays 
*	Assist with meeting arrangements 
*	Other duties as assigned 


QUALIFICATIONS:


*	Bachelor's degree in linguistics, language, education, or related discipline or three to five years of relevant experience. Bachelor's degree preferred. 
*	Experience: Minimum of one year professional experience is required, including collecting and organizing data; writing, editing, and formatting technical reports; and developing educational materials. Experience with writing educational songs, creating graphics, and producing CDs is preferred. 
*	Skills: Advanced proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Photoshop required. Proficiency with AUP, MP3, database software, and statistical analysis packages preferred. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills in English. 
*	Other requirements: Must be flexible, well-organized, attentive to detail, and able to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines. Must have strong interpersonal skills, and be able to work collaboratively and independently. Must be proficient in a variety of computer applications and able to learn new ones easily.
