French is no longer mandatory for Calgary students

 

Making French classes optional for students is another effort by the Calgary Board of Education to personalize learning, a representative said yesterday.

Starting this fall, schools teaching those in fourth through sixth grades will now consult with their community before deciding whether to offer second-language courses.
