ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR / HEAD OF ENGLISH DEPARTMENT

Role/Purpose
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other faculty to improve students' English knowledge and study skills so that they can perform effectively in an English-speaking university environment, 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Be responsible to the Academic Head for leading and managing all academic aspects of the US University Transfer program at ANC under John F. Kennedy University. 
 
Successful applicants are committed to teaching excellence and believe in learner-focused pedagogies. He / She will be expected to teach a variety of courses in English such as, Freshman Composition, Literature, Business and Technical Writing courses. Furthermore, excellent skills in communication, cultural sensitivity, and effective use of classroom media and technology are expected. Besides the facilitation of learning, faculty participate in student advising, honor office hours and carry out other assigned duties. 
 
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Applicants should have a Ph.D. or a Masters Degree. Native speakers of English are preferred. At least five years of American education and teaching experience required.

Remuneration Package
Contracts are normally issued for 1 to 3 years and are renewable. The screening of applications for 2013 will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. A competitive annual salary comparable to US standards will be negotiated based on experience. Housing and a local health insurance package will be provided. Other benefits and travel expenses will be discussed in detail with qualified applicants.
