Test Development Assistant (Temporary position approx. 4 months)

CAL Classification: Research Assistant
Program Area: World Languages and International Programs
Salary: $24 - $26 per hour
Hours Per Week: 20-35 hrs/wk
Position Available: Immediately

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Assist with tasks related to test development, test refreshment, and research for tests of English.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  *   Assist with development of item writing procedures and processes, including preparing written protocols and checklists
  *   Write, review, and revise test items to adhere to specification sheets and to identify errors
  *   Contribute to data collection, data entry, coding, and analysis
  *   Draft portions of written reports and presentations
  *   Communicate with partners and external colleagues to assist in various aspects of data collection
  *   Proof and copyedit materials according to style guide
  *   Other duties as assigned related to language testing and research projects

QUALIFICATIONS:

  *   Education: BA/BS degree in a related field and 3 years of related experience or a MA/MS degree in a relevant field
  *   Experience: Successful candidate will have experience working with language testing and/or international education

DESIRED SKILLS:

  *   The preferred candidate will be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work flexibly and cooperatively in a fast paced team environment. Excellent skills in the following areas are highly desirable: native or native-like proficiency in English; proficiency in the use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access, thoroughness in execution of task assignments; proficiency in a language other than English, particularly Spanish; and excellent time management and adherence to deadlines.
