Sixth Conference on Explorations in Ethnography, Language and Communication

Diversities in global societies

22-23 September 2016

Södertörn University, Sweden

Explorations in Ethnography, Language and Communication (EELC) is a biannual conference for the Linguistic Ethnography Forum affiliated with BAAL. The conference was originally inspired by a research training programme run by a team of researchers at Kings College London and the Institute of Education. Three participants from the first cohort joined forces to establish an event that would facilitate further opportunities for exchange of knowledge around ethnography, language and communication. They established a conference in September 2008 and ran further events in 2009 and 2010 at the University of Aston, Birmingham. In 2010 the Linguistic Ethnography Forum decided to turn the conference into a biannual event and the 4th EELC in Copenhagen 2012 was the first conference to be held outside the UK and the University of Aston. The 5th EELC was held at the University of Manchester in 2014. The sixth EELC conference will be held on 22-23 September 2016 in Södertörn University in Sweden.

We welcome participants to give a paper, present a poster, or hold a workshop. Paper presenters will be allowed 20 minutes, with a further 10 minutes for discussion. Poster presenters will be assigned a special session for brief presentations and discussions.
