Based in the Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies at the
Open University, the School of Languages and Applied Linguistics offers
modules and qualifications in Modern Languages, English Language and
Applied Linguistics, English for Academic Purposes, and Intercultural
Communication.

The School wishes to appoint a lecturer in Applied Linguistics and English
Language to a permanent full time position.

You will contribute to the design and development of modules in English
Language and Applied Linguistics and will work within teams to both support
current undergraduate and postgraduate modules and create new ones. Applied
Linguistics and English Language at the Open University has established a
national and international reputation, and takes a broadly socio-cultural
and interdisciplinary approach to language study in both teaching and
research.

You must have experience of curriculum development and course design and
excellent and demonstrable planning and organisational skills. You will be
interested in making a contribution to our strong research culture, share
our commitment to high quality teaching and to the use of technology in
teaching and learning. A PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline is
essential.
