How to talk to children about the Capitol riots: An age by age guide

The scenes from the rioters breaching the U.S. Capitol are jarring: People
scaling walls, Confederate flags, a noose, lawmakers hiding on the floor in
terror, a man with his feet propped up on a desk, signs of vandalism and
destruction around him. Processing this can be tough for adults let alone
children. But children will learn about what happened. If parents don’t
bring it up, their children might not understand that it’s safe to talk
about it with their parents.
