Message from the Chair:
Welcome to the Bilingual Education Research SIG! Throughout the years our group has gone through a tremendous evolution. Currently we have nearly 250 members representing not only the United States, Canada and Mexico, but with significant international representation from other parts of the globe.
This SIG addresses all ethnoliguistically diverse groups. Although ethnically and culturally diverse, the group is united in its promotion of the discussion, dissemination, and critical examination of a broad range of issues that relate to Bilingual Education. We hope to foster a sense of community among our members, inform the membership of our mission and work, and to provide a valuable resource to accomplish our research and practice.
Our members are responsible for some of the most important, leading-edge research and publications in the field today.
Please take a few minutes to visit our site. Herein you’ll find valuable resources relating to our field, our mission and bylaws, information about our presentations at past conferences, and information on how to join our group. Included are also details about the current call for proposals for the 2007 Annual Meeting. I hope you enjoy and learn something from your visit here. Both the AERA and our SIG welcome new members and we would enjoy getting to know you and your research interests. We welcome your proposals and encourage you to volunteer to be a reviewer, discussant, or chair of a session for our SIG!
