Dear Peter (if I may),<br>
Sorry you were having difficulty; I hope you've been able to get the
link to work by now, but I've just heard that someone else had problems
with the url (though
it works fine for me). Here it is again (without the final full stop):
<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext"
href="http://www.phon.ucl.ac.uk/home/dick/kal/top.htm">http://www.phon.ucl.ac.uk/home/dick/kal/top.htm</a>
<br>
If you still have problems with it, you should be able to reach it via:
<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext"
href="http://www.phon.ucl.ac.uk/home/dick/education.htm">http://www.phon.ucl.ac.uk/home/dick/education.htm</a><br>
If even that doesn't work, can you contact me directly at
<a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="mailto:dick@ling.ucl.ac.uk">dick@ling.ucl.ac.uk</a>?<br>
<br>
This site is a discussion of grammar teaching -
what, why and how - rather than a pedagogical grammar. For models of
the latter you might like to look at Debby Myhill's excellent
cybergrammar (see her message) or my own grammar for teachers at
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext"
href="http://www.phon.ucl.ac.uk/home/dick/tta/KS3.htm">http://www.phon.ucl.ac.uk/home/dick/tta/KS3.htm</a>.
I wish you success
with your website and I hope you'll tell us about it when it's ready.<br>
<br>
With best wishes, Dick Hudson<br>

There seems to be something wrong with this web-site. As I am working
on what I call a paedagogical grammar I would greatly appreciate if you
could tell me the new address. <br>

With very best wishes <br>

Subject: [EDLING:898] A web site about grammar teaching <br>
<br>
<br>
<blockquote type="cite">Dear Colleague, <br>
You may be interested in a new web-site about grammar - what it is, why
it should be taught and how it should be taught - at <br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated"
href="http://www.phon.ucl.ac.uk/home/dick/kal/top.htm">www.phon.ucl.ac.uk/home/dick/kal/top.htm</a>.
<br>
I wrote it at the invitation of the team that runs the secondary
schools in England, so it's focussed on the official policy as
expressed in official documents. The immediate trigger for
commissioning the work was a barrage of ill-informed criticism
stimulated by a research review in late 2004 that claimed to have found
that grammar teaching never benefits writing skills, so the main focus
of the web site is on this question. Comments welcome, of course. <br>
<br>
With best wishes, Dick Hudson <br>
