<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=3>THE DEPARTMENT:The Department of Educational & Interdisciplinary Studies offers an undergraduate major leading to bilingual education certification and courses at the graduate level that lead to a bilingual/ESL endorsement. WIU’s Bilingual/Bicultural Education major was established in 1973 and is the oldest program in the state of <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Illinois</st1:place></st1:State>. The Department also offers a Masters of Science in Education in Educational and Interdisciplinary Studies and a Masters of Arts in Teaching. Seventeen faculty members teach classes at our main campus and a secondary campus. Our program is NCATE accredited. Our bilingual program is partially supported by Project Estrella, a Title III, National Professional Development Grant. </FONT></P>
