<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Since its inception in 1998 in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Japan</st1:place></st1:country-region>, this conference has brought together biennially language experts, educators, practitioners and scholars from around the world in dialogue and critical engagement with the ever growing body of knowledge in the area of Japanese studies. The conference this year will explore themes: Japanese language education, Linguistics in Japanese, Japanese literature, and Japanese cultures and history. The conference aims to facilitate understanding and research idea exchange between researchers from around the world, in the hope of broadening the horizons of Japanese studies.</P>
