But in the northwestern state of <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Oregon</st1:place></st1:State>, lawmakers are hoping to add a new subject to the school curriculum - Mandarin Chinese. And they're looking to the <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Beijing</st1:place></st1:City> government as a source of funding for Chinese language education.</P>
