and Culture (SLEC), housed within the College of Education, includes Ph.D.,
Ed.D., M.Ed, and M.Ed with ESOL/FL certification degrees. Faculty in the
department prepare the next generation of scholars and researchers and help
shape the theory and praxis that guide teaching and learning of languages.
Our faculty work </span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">with international graduate students who are professional EFL
specialists in their home countries, as well as with U.S.-born graduate
students who work in ESL in the U.S. or in EFL overseas.</span></p>

Language Education and Culture is highly interdisciplinary.</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif""> We are particularly interested in candidates whose
research reflects the globally expanding nature of the field of Second Language
Acquisition.</span></p>

<p style="margin-bottom:0in;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-autospace:none"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">The successful candidate will be a
senior scholar (advanced Associate or Full professor) in the field of second
language education. She or he must be able to contribute to both U.S. and
international issues related to the teaching and learning of English and other
languages. The area of scholarship can be open, but a specialty in EFL, EIL, or
World Englishes is strongly preferred. </span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">We seek someone with a strong national or
international reputation for excellent research and publication in Foreign
Language Education (EFL, ESL, or other languages) who will be able to guide
students in appropriate research methodologies and to take on immediate
responsibilities in advising doctoral and master’s students, directing
dissertations, and contributing to doctoral comprehensive examinations and
master’s seminar papers. </span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;line-height:115%;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"">This individual
must have extensive senior-level university teaching credentials and a strong
vision of doctoral program excellence, the energy to share and collaboratively
implement such a vision, and experience in designing program options. The successful
candidate will have a record of securing external funding and be able to
initiate research grants and provide intellectual leadership and collaborative
engagement with faculty and students.</span></p>
