The aim of the workshop is for<BR>people working in speech science & engineering, linguistics, psychology, and<BR>language education to meet and discuss second language acquisition &<BR>learning, education, and technology. The workshop theme is<BR>interdisciplinary, ranging over but not exclusive to spoken and written L2<BR>acquisition & learning, designing & constructing corpora for language<BR>research, speech science & engineering, and their application to education.<BR>All theoretical and practical topics in these areas will be considered.<BR><BR>Main topics include:<BR> a) Spoken and written L2 acquisition and learning<BR> b) Perception and production of L2 speech<BR> c) Phonetics and phonology of L2<BR> d) Psycholinguistics<BR> e) Language education and learning theories<BR> f) Data collection methods and corpus design<BR> g) Development of speech recognition and speech synthesis techniques for<BR>education<BR> h) Development of natural language processing techniques for education<BR> i) Practical and educational applications using speech and language<BR>technologies<BR> j) Intelligent tutoring systems using speech and language technologies<BR> k) Other topics related to L2 studies<BR><BR>Technical program:<BR> The workshop program will consist of oral & poster presentations, panel<BR>discussions, and demonstrations of educational systems using speech and<BR>language technologies.<BR><BR>Paper submission:<BR> Prospective authors are invited to submit 4-page full papers, including<BR>figures and references. All the papers will be handled and reviewed<BR>electronically.
