<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">A year ago, I did not think I was capable of learning a foreign language. The idea of knowing a second language sounded wonderful, but there was no hope for me. I was born in an English-speaking household and was barely exposed to other languages. </P>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Many people implied that learning a language was too big of a feat for an American, like me, to attempt. Others said there was no hope for someone to learn a language unless they were either a young child or a language genius, two things that I do not use to describe myself. The last blow came, however, when I made a "C" average in my Spanish classes. </P>
