<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">When Max Adrien first heard that a massive earthquake had leveled <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Port-au-Prince</st1:City>, <st1:country-region w:st="on">Haiti</st1:country-region></st1:place>, it hit close to home. </P>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">His brother lives in <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Haiti</st1:place></st1:country-region>, and thankfully survived the January 12 disaster unharmed. </P>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Adrien's first instinct was to help his home country. </P>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">"I said to myself, 'I need to go to <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Haiti</st1:place></st1:country-region>.'" </P>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">After speaking to his brother, he realized that he would need a skill that was in immediate demand. Otherwise he would just be in the way of other relief efforts.</P>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">So he came up with a unique idea.</P>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">"I decided to give <st1:country-region w:st="on">Haiti</st1:country-region> what I have, which is teaching," said Adrien, who is a French professor at <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Hamline</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">University</st1:PlaceType> in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">St. Paul</st1:City>, <st1:State w:st="on">Minnesota</st1:State></st1:place>. "I don't think I can give <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Haiti</st1:place></st1:country-region> a better gift." </P>
