<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">The Star-Ledger reported Sunday that several school districts had replaced several elementary school foreign language teachers and the classes they taught with computerized instruction. <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on">Ridgewood</st1:place>, in one instance of this swap, saved some $200,000 in salaries by spending an estimated $50,000 on software. In some cases, the computerized instruction is replacing a 30- or 40-minute per week traditional class in foreign language.</P>
