<DIV dir=ltr>POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT (Fall 2010)<BR><BR>Northern Arizona University English Department: Assistant Professor in<BR>Applied Linguistics, Tenure-track<BR><BR>Assistant professor of Applied Linguistics, tenure track, starting Fall<BR>2011. The Northern Arizona University (NAU) English Department seeks an<BR>individual specializing in second language acquisition, with teaching<BR>interests that encompass SLA and other areas in TESL and applied<BR>linguistics. Responsibilities include teaching courses in the MA-TESL<BR>program, the applied linguistics doctoral program, and the English<BR>undergraduate program. Responsibilities also include active research;<BR>student advising and mentoring; doctoral committee work; and department,<BR>college, university, and professional service. Salary will be<BR>commensurate with experience. <BR><BR>Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in applied linguistics or related<BR>discipline in hand by date of appointment, August 2011; primary research<BR>interest in second language acquisition. Preferred qualifications:<BR>refereed publications in applied linguistics, including area of SLA<BR>specialization; evidence of empirical research agenda; evidence of<BR>professional activity in additional areas (e.g., language skills, second<BR>language pedagogy, language testing and assessment); demonstration of<BR>ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in SLA and other<BR>TESL/applied linguistics areas; experience mentoring graduate and<BR>undergraduate students; experience working and interacting with diverse<BR>cultures; experience teaching ESL/EFL.
