Social media<BR>such as Facebook and Twitter are reshaping people’s interactions. Texting<BR>and instant messaging are transforming the very meaning of<BR>“conversation,” while Blogs and websites are gradually replacing newspapers<BR>and television as the primary news outlets.<BR><BR>These new worlds of words occasion innovative uses of language and new<BR>spaces for constructing identities, forming relationships, and expressing<BR>social meanings. GURT 2011 will explore how these ever-changing<BR>technologies affect ever-adapting discourse.
