<DIV dir=ltr id=idSignature56343><FONT size=2>Winter School on Multilingualism across the Lifespan<BR><BR>Date: 06-Feb-2012 - 08-Feb-2012<BR>Location: Fribourg/Freiburg, Switzerland<BR>Contact Person: Irmtraud Kaiser<BR>Meeting Email: < click here to access email ><BR>Web Site: <A href="http://www.institut-mehrsprachigkeit.ch/de/veranstaltungen1/2012/Winterschool">http://www.institut-mehrsprachigkeit.ch/de/veranstaltungen1/2012/Winterschool</A><BR><BR>Linguistic Field(s): Cognitive Science; Language Acquisition; Psycholinguistics<BR><BR>Call Deadline: 30-Sep-2011<BR><BR>Meeting Description:<BR><BR>The Winter School on Multilingualism across the Lifespan offers a<BR>three-day programme which will include five plenary papers by invited<BR>speakers, student presentations and a statistics workshop.<BR><BR>The following plenary speakers will give talks:<BR><BR>Scott Jarvis<BR>Kees de Bot<BR>Monika Schmid<BR>Carmen Muñoz<BR>Jesse Snedeker<BR>R.H. Baayen<BR><BR>Call for Papers:<BR><BR>The organisers welcome papers by doctoral students or advanced M.A.<BR>students relating to various perspectives on multilingualism across<BR>the lifespan, i.e. examining at least two different age groups.<BR><BR>This includes the following fields of research:<BR><BR>- Second and foreign language acquisition (L2, L3, Ln) in different age groups<BR>- The interaction between age and rate of acquisition and/or attainment<BR>- Dynamics of language acquisition, maintenance and attrition in<BR>different age groups<BR>- Cross-linguistic influence and age<BR>- Factors influencing and interacting with multilingualism at different ages<BR>- Investigations into the 'critical period hypothesis'<BR>- etc.<BR><BR>Papers will be allocated to thematic sessions. Oral presentations will<BR>be 20 minutes in length, followed by 10 minutes for discussion. Papers<BR>and abstracts can be in English, German or French.<BR><BR>Abstracts (up to 300 words) should be submitted via EasyAbs:<BR><BR><A href="http://linguistlist.org/confcustom/MAL2012">http://linguistlist.org/confcustom/MAL2012</A><BR><BR>The deadline for submission of abstracts is 30th September, 2011.<BR>Applicants will be notified by the beginning of November whether or<BR>not their abstract has been accepted. For accepted speakers the Winter<BR>School will be free of charge (except conference dinner).<BR><BR><A href="http://linguistlist.org/issues/22/22-3033.html">http://linguistlist.org/issues/22/22-3033.html</A><BR><BR></FONT></DIV></BODY></HTML>
