The first day will include two keynote addresses and a<BR>host of invited speakers, while the second day will include a poster<BR>session and film festival. A central goal of this symposium is to<BR>share successful language revitalization strategies from around the<BR>world, and to understand how revitalization can strengthen local<BR>cultural identity and at the same time connect speakers to one another<BR>across the globe. Oral presentations will be organized around the<BR>following themes:<BR><BR>- Learning that works<BR>- Development of tools, resources, and materials<BR>- Collaborative initiatives between communities and academics<BR>- Increasing awareness of threatened languages and revitalization movements<BR><BR>Keynote Speakers:<BR><BR>Dr. Timoti Karetu, Maori<BR>Jesse Little Doe Baird, Wopanaak<BR><BR>Call for Posters:<BR><BR>Abstracts on language revitalization are welcomed for poster<BR>presentation at the symposium. Abstracts are limited to one<BR>single-spaced page, including data and examples. All text should fit<BR>within an A4 page, 12-point font with 2.5cm (approx. l inch) margin<BR>all around. Abstract submission is by e-mail attachment only. Save<BR>your anonymous one-page abstract as a PDF file and name it with your<BR>last name.
