Greensboro (UNCG) is classified by The Carnegie Foundation as a “high research
activity” institution of higher education with an enrollment of approximately
16,000 students. Located in the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina, UNCG is
one of four doctoral granting institutions of the 16 North Carolina campus
university system, and places strong emphasis on effective teaching, research
and scholarly activity, and service to the community. </span></p>

Education Services (SES) offers NCATE accredited teacher education programs at
both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Professions in Deafness program
consists of three concentrations (i.e., Advocacy and Services for the Deaf and
Hard of Hearing, B-12 Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher Licensure, and
Interpreter Preparation) that prepare professionals for a variety of career
options working with the D/deaf community, including those of teachers, interpreters,
and human services personnel.  </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:'Times New Roman'"><br></span></b></p><p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:'Times New Roman'">Responsibilities:</span></b><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:'Times New Roman'"> Productivity, or potential for such, in a scholarly line of
research to advance understanding and/or intervention with D/deaf or
hard-of-hearing individuals, including but not limited to, peer reviewed
journal publications, presentations to the profession, and externally funded
research and other projects; Mentoring doctoral students in the SES department;
Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in SES/PID such as those in ASL,
linguistics, advocacy, sign language interpreting, and/or education; Collaborating
with colleagues to develop a Master’s level program; Advising undergraduate
and/or graduate students; Monitoring data collection for national and state certification
entities; Arranging and supervising practica and student teaching experiences
with public schools and community agencies; Engaging in service to the academic
community and the profession at the national, state, university, and department
levels.</span></p>

<p class=""><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:'Times New Roman'">Qualifications:  Minimum required qualifications for this
position include all of the following:</span></p>

deaf-related field such as  advocacy, ASL
(Linguistics), Deaf studies, deaf education, interpreting, special education

professional employment with D/deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals as a teacher,

potential to demonstrate, research and scholarship activities focused on topics
