first book represents outstanding work in the field of applied linguistics.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</span>In granting this award, the association honors high quality books that make an exceptional contribution to the field as a whole or to a specific area of specialization.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</span>The AAAL First Book Award will be given biennially, alternating every other year with the AAAL Book Award.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt; FONT-FAMILY: "Times New Roman",serif"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNoSpacing" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt; FONT-FAMILY: "Times New Roman",serif">Nominations for the First Book Award are made directly by publishers, who may submit up to two different titles for award consideration.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</span>Monographs with copyright dates of 2014 or 2015 are eligible.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">
