<p style="margin-bottom:10.0pt"><span lang="EN-US">With the aim of recruiting the best and brightest students in the world to pursue PhD study in Hong Kong, the Research Grants Council (RGC) of the Government of Hong Kong SAR has established the
<b>Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme</b>. <span style="color:black">I am writing to ask for your assistance in</span>
<span style="color:black">recommending outstanding candidates to apply for the Scheme
</span>through the Department of English at <a href="http://www.cityu.edu.hk/">City University of Hong Kong</a> (<a href="http://www.english.cityu.edu.hk/en/index.jsp">http://www.english.cityu.edu.hk/en/index.jsp</a>).
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span lang="EN-US">Each Fellowship recipient will receive an award in the amount of
<b>USD 105,320 </b>for a 3-year PhD. The financial award consists of a CYC SGS Entrance Scholarship<b>
</b>(which covers the tuition and on-campus hostel fees in the <i>first year </i>
of research study), and a monthly stipend and a conference and research-related travel allowance.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span lang="EN-US">Students with outstanding academic progress in their later years of study may receive a Research Tuition Scholarship to cover their tuition fees.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p><span lang="EN-US">The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme will invite applications for 2018 entry from 1 September-1 December 2017 (<i>12.00.00 GMT +8 hours</i>).
