Hi all,

In my teaching about World Englishes, one of the week focuses on Singapore, citing the likes of Lisa Lim (e.g.
https://benjamins.com/catalog/aila.22.05lim) in portraying Singapore's language policy as rather blunt-edged and heavy-handed. But a New York Times article published yesterday,
https://goo.gl/VKsR9D, suggests that this policy may be lightening somewhat. That could just be sensationalised media fluff though. Does anyone know of any research (published on in progress) tracking this nascent change?
Or failing that, can anyone either corroborate or challenge this article's claims?
