ELL: Rapanui as an endeangered language

Following Grant McCall's posting:  The question of Rapanui as an endangered
language, and the role of other competing languages on the island, are
analyzed in painstaking detail, in the context of relevant contemporary
theory in socio-cultural and linguistic anthropology, by Miki Makihara
(CUNY Queens College) in her 1999 Yale University PhD dissertation.
