Authors who want to encourage others to make use of their creations
while retaining some intellectual property rights might want to
consider the creative commons approach. (For a quick intro see
http://creativecommons.org/learn/licenses/how1 .)

Obviously, the approach does not prevent web sites or other publicly
available data from being plagiarized. But it may nevertheless be a
workable approach also for web sites devoted to sharing linguistic
information.
