This is to inform you that further information regarding the forthcoming AFRILEX 2010 conference -- to be held at the University of Botswana, in Gaborone (Botswana), from 19-21 July 2010 -- can now be found on the AFRILEX website: http://afrilex.africanlanguages.com/. For those who also wish to attend EURALEX this year, note that AFRILEX starts two weeks later. For those who are also interested in attending this year’s ALASA conference (http://www.alasa.org.za/), note that ALASA takes place in the same week as AFRILEX, at the same venue. ALASA’s theme is ‘Documenting, safeguarding and empowering African languages and cultures’, while AFRILEX accepts any papers on lexicography, on any language(s).

All papers will be adjudicated.

 

Prospective presenters are to submit abstracts to reach AFRILEX before 30 March 2010. Abstracts should be between 500 and 800 words for adjudicators to make informed judgements on the central argument of the paper, especially given that conference proceedings are not published. Abstracts should contain the following: a central argument of the paper, how the study was conducted and some (preliminary) conclusions. Papers that fail to follow these guidelines will be rejected.

Please inform the Local Conference Organiser, Dr John Lubinda, well in advance of the date(s) and time(s) that transport from and to the airport is required and provide the flight number and name of the airline.

 

ROAD LEVY

Please note that a road levy of about P120.00 is charged to those using their own private vehicles to travel into Botswana. The levy charge is likely to change in the course of time, so please find out exactly how much is charged at the time of travel. According to current information, the only currency that is accepted is Pula.

 

VISA REQUIREMENTS
