multiple-choice task & RT for first typed letter

hi,
i'm a new user of eprime and have a few questions. the design of my
experiment is simple, and it includes 2 tasks: a recall and a
recognition.

for each item in recall, subjects get an open-ended question for which
they type in a one-word answer. i'd like to collect the RT to the
first letter of the word they type in (rather than RT to the entire
response). is that a simple way to accomplish that? also, how can i
make sure that caps and misspellings of the correct answer will be
scored as "accurate"?

for each item in the recognition task, subjects get a set of 4
choices, and i'm wondering how the task would be set up so that the
choices are randomized.
