Soundout, stop offset and buffers

Well, I've just realised that the soundfile will play for its entire
duration if I don't specify a stop offset time, so will work around the
problem by creating a soundfile of the exact length I need. However, this
isn't very flexible and is very inelegant. Moreover, I'd like to know *why*the stop offset doesn't work as I expected, so I'd still be very grateful
if anyone can shed some light on this!

Many thanks
