Sorry I can't help Johanna but I have a similar question so I'm going to stick it here in the hopes someone can help us both (it'd be quite useful for me to know what the answer for yours is too). They're quite similar.

I have 12 stimuli (images) that I want to present in three blocks/cycles, randomly under constraints. My constraint being that if for example object 11 is randomly selected to be the first image presented in the first cycle, that it is also the first image presented in the next two.

Thanks in advance!
Pel

On Friday, August 31, 2012 5:46:36 AM UTC+1, Johanna Xi wrote:

Hi!

For example, I want to present 4 stimuli in a block, A(1), A(2), B(1), B(2). They are presented at random, one at a time, with the constraint that for A and B, (1) is always presented before (2). That is, A(1) must be before A(2), B(1) must be before B(2). How should I do that in Eprime?

For the above case, it is possible to list all possible arrangements and choose one at random, but with more pairs of stimuli, it becomes impossible. So I wonder how that can be done in a general way.

Many many thanks!!!
