Sharing a wonderful message and fantastic accomplishments:

"Dear Ethnography of Communication familia,

This week the UNM Provost notified me that I had been promoted to full
Professor.

I would like you to know that building up to this moment, YOU were on my
mind as I conducted fieldwork, transcribed countless interviews, examined
data, wrote, rewrote, and rewrote some more. It was YOUR high standards
and practices that inspired me since I began this trek more than two
decades ago. It was YOUR work that served to harness my own. It was the
memory of good times with YOU that sustained me after countless personal
setbacks and downturns. YOU helped me in ways that you did not know. So,
I now turn to you to say “GRACIAS” for shaping a community that transcends
formalities and professionalisms and fashions real amistad, apoyo, and
amor. I thank those of you who wrote letters for my promotion file
expressing your generous support. I thank those of you who sent me
encouraging messages during the long wait. Of course, I do not know if you
served as external reviewers of all those pages; but, if you did, you have
my gratitude. Thank you everyone for walking the talk of the EOC/EC.

Stay safe and well.

Patricia Covarrubias"
