<p class="MsoNormal">The Department of Communication in the College of Media, Communication and Information (CMCI) at the University of Colorado-Boulder invites applications for a position as Instructor of Communication. The initial appointment will be for
a three-year term with the possibility of reappointment. The Department has a history of welcoming and valuing long-term instructors.

<p class="MsoNormal">The Department of Communication recognizes that our effectiveness and creativity are strengthened by contributions from a broad range of perspectives. As such, we particularly welcome candidates from groups that are historically underrepresented
in our field and/or have demonstrated leadership toward building an equitable and inclusive scholarly environment.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">We seek a person who will oversee the Department’s new online degree completion program, mentor graduate student instructors and adjuncts teaching online courses, serve as a liaison with the campus’ Continuing Education division, advance
our commitments to diversity and inclusion, and teach three courses a semester in some subset of the following areas: culture & identity, intercultural communication, interpersonal communication, family communication, public speaking, research methods, and/or
a senior seminar in the applicant’s area of expertise.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes">

<p class="MsoNormal">This is a full-time position that will consist of six courses per year, one or more of which will be online courses. Applicants with significant experience developing and teaching online courses are preferred, as are those with a strong
commitment to pedagogies and practices of diversity, inclusion, and equity with particular attention to first-generation students and members of underrepresented groups.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">As liaison between the Department of Communication and the Division of Continuing Education (CE), duties will include:</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Reviewing possible course offerings with CE;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Working with faculty in developing master courses for the online curriculum;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Coordinating course offerings and the assignment of instructors;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Determining alternative solutions if designated course instructors are unable or unwilling to fulfill their agreements with the Division;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Supervising graduate student and adjunct faculty teaching online for the Division and ensuring their compliance with Division standards and deadlines;</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Representing the Communication Department and Continuing Education as a contributor to CU-Boulder campus pedagogical innovation and faculty development projects.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">CMCI was founded in 2015 to address revolutionary change in the way people communicate, the tools they use and the impact that change has on society. The new college has six departments that offer undergraduate and graduate degrees: the
Department of Advertising, Public Relations and Media Design; the Department of Communication; the Department of Critical Media Practices; the Department of Information Science; the Department of Journalism and the Department of Media Studies. In addition,
there is a graduate program in Intermedia Art, Writing and Performance. The college’s interdisciplinary approach unites students and faculty from these seven academic specialties to solve emerging problems in the ever-changing world of communication and technology.

<p class="MsoNormal">CMCI has attracted strong interest from prospective students and now enrolls over 1,800 undergraduate and graduate students, is home to five centers and labs and a growing faculty. Since the inception of the college in the fall of 2015,
40 new faculty across all departments have been hired, which has provided the opportunity to re-envision the curriculum and capitalize on relationships with new educational and industry partners.
