Enclosed please find the 'Language Update Questionnaire' with up-to-date information on the Ofayé language, spoken in Central Brazil, which is mistakenly listed as an extinct language in the last edition of the Ethnologue. The update is based on fieldwork we recently conducted in the Ofayé village, as well as on bibliographic research. Please feel free to contact us if any additional clarification is needed. </FONT><FONT size=2>We hope this report contributes to a better knowledge of the linguistic situation in South America, and, more importantly, to the recognition of the survival of the Ofayé as a nation--a modest, though much needed tribute to their endurance and strength.</FONT></DIV>
