Para tanto, levam-se em conta os respectivos contextos indigenistas nacionais e a história das relações interétnicas, dando ênfase às biografias dos atores e de seus papéis nas instituições em que atuam. Busca-se compreender como agentes indígenas que passaram por processos de escolarização, produzidos ou apoiados, no mais das vezes pelas agências indigenistas oficiais, ou
reconhecidas, participam atualmente da formulação e execução de políticas públicas voltadas para as populações indígenas nos dois países, México e Brasil.
