Lucy e também fiz meu mestrado com a orientaçao dela. Trabalho com a lingua Tapayuna que é muito proxima a língua Suyá. Os meus colabores tapayuna me deram duas palavras para 'anta': <span style="font-weight: bold;">kukhryry</span> e <span style="font-weight: bold;">uhàtxi</span><span style="font-family: times new roman,new york,times,serif;">. Eles me disseram que <span style="font-weight: bold;">uhàtxi</span> é nome que os tapayúnas antigos nomeavam a 'anta' e que <span style="font-weight: bold;">kukhryry</span> foi o nome que eles aprenderam com os Kayapó. A palavra que tenho para nariz é: <span style="font-weight: bold;">tiNjakhré </span>(o que parece ser uma descrição). </span><br><br>Bom, espero ter ajudado um

<p>Prezados,<br>

Venho, já há algum tempo, desconfiando que a palavra para 'anta' em<br>
línguas Jê do Norte (e Central), reconstruída por Davis como *kukryt<br>
para o Proto-Jê, é de fato morfologicamente complexa. Isto é sugerido,<br>
por exemplo, pelos dados do Panará, em que a sílaba inicial não ocorre<br>
(cf. Dourado 2001; um outro exemplo em que o Panará difere por não ter<br>
a sílaba inicial ku- -- sendo, neste sentido, mais conservador que as<br>
demais línguas da família -- é a palavra para 'fogo'; cf. Ribeiro<br>
2002).<br>
<br>
Uma hipótese em que andei pensando é que a palavra para 'anta' teria<br>
sido, etimologicamente, de caráter descritivo. Marília Ferreira<br>
documenta, em sua tese de doutorado, a forma kryt 'nariz' para o<br>
Parkatêjê (Ferreira 2003). Talvez a palavra para 'anta' (PRK kukryt,<br>
etc.) contenha este termo para parte do corpo; ou seja, por alusão a<br>
uma de suas características físicas mais marcantes, a anta teria sido<br>
chamada de 'o (animal do) kryt (grande)'.<br>
<br>
Esta hipótese é agora corroborada por um artigo de J. Pedro Viegas<br>
Barros (Universidad de Buenos Aires), em que ele descreve uma<br>
etimologia parecida para o termo para 'anta' na família Guaicurú ("La<br>
etimología de 'tapir' en guaicurú", no prelo, apresentado no XII<br>
Congreso de la Sociedad Argentina de Lingüística no último mês de<br>
abril) -- neste caso, 'lábio superior'.<br>
<br>
Considerando-se que a palavra para 'nariz' reconstruível para o<br>
Proto-Jê e atestada em outras famílias (Karajá, Boróro Ofayé,<br>
Chiquitano) é outra (PJê *j-iNja, etc.), talvez kryt tenha tido<br>
originalmente um significado diferente -- 'focinho'? 'lábio superior'?<br>
Como não consegui encontrar, nas fontes de que disponho, possíveis<br>
cognatos deste termo em outras línguas Jê, gostaria de pedir a ajuda<br>
dos colegas que trabalham com línguas da família.<br>

Agradeço, desde já, por quaisquer informações que possam me fornecer.<br>
Eu e Pedro Viegas estamos interessados, também, na ocorrência de<br>
construções semanticamente semelhantes a estas para 'anta', envolvendo<br>
partes do corpo ('nariz', 'lábio', etc.), em outras línguas do<br>
continente.<br>
