<br>Segue a descrição do GT:<br><br><br><b>GT "Descrição de línguas indígenas: focalização e topicalização"</b><br><br>A lentidão com que se tem desenvolvido a pesquisa científica das línguas indígenas no Brasil revela-se extremamente grave quando se verifica que essas línguas, desde o descobrimento do Brasil pelos europeus, têm estado continuamente submetidas a um processo de extinção. Das aproximadamente 180 línguas indígenas faladas no Brasil atualmente, cerca de 156 (87%) são faladas por menos de 1.000 pessoas, o que, em qualquer parte do mundo, é considerado um fator de alto risco para a sobrevivência de uma língua. Essas línguas fortemente ameaçadas de extinção necessitam, portanto, urgentemente, de pesquisas, assim como de fortes ações sociais de apoio a seus falantes, que, como comunidades humanas, estão igualmente ameaçados de extinção cultural e, em não poucos casos, de extinção física. As tarefas que têm hoje os lingüistas brasileiros de documentar, analisar, comparar e tentar reconstruir a história filogenética das línguas sobreviventes é, portanto, uma tarefa de caráter urgentíssimo (cf. Aryon D. Rodrigues, site UNB/LALI).<br>
<br>O presente Grupo de Trabalho (GT) privilegia, portanto, as línguas indígenas brasileiras, sem deixar de lado as demais línguas indígenas da América. Neste GT pretende-se promover o debate sobre aspectos importantes da estrutura discursivo-pragmática das línguas indígenas, estudadas sob a ótica de diferentes métodos e teorias. Alguns desses aspectos são a focalização e a topicalização, os quais estão vinculados às estratégias argumentativas e ao conteúdo informacional do enunciado/texto. Diferentes estratégias podem ser usadas pelas línguas para indicar que uma expressão é focalizada/topicalizada, dentre outras, (a) estratégias morfossintáticas, como uso de morfemas indicadores de foco ou deslocamento de posição dos elementos topicalizados/focalizados; (b) estratégias prosódicas, como a entonação, ou (c) a atuação concomitante de duas ou mais estratégias. Com este GT, pretende-se, portanto, estimular os estudos voltados para a descrição de aspectos discursivo-pragmáticos das línguas indígenas, sobretudo em relação aos processos de focalização e topicalização.<br>
