          The second meeting of the ASSOCIATION FOR LINGUISTIC
          TYPOLOGY (ALT) - the first to be held in the USA -
                          will take place on

              SEPTEMBER 11-14 1997 (Thursday through Sunday)

          on the campus of the UNIVERSITY OF OREGON in Eugene, OR.


              The conference is open to all: membership in ALT
              is not required for attendance.

              Talks will begin on Thursday at 9:00am and end
              Sunday early afternoon.
