Announcement of Vacancy

The Department of Linguistics at the Max Planck
Institute in Leipzig has a vacancy for a Senior
Researcher in the areas of language history and
prehistory, linguistic typology, and description
of little studied and endangered languages.

The five-year non-renewable position is available
from 01 January 2007; a later starting date may
be negotiable.

Prerequisites for an application are a PhD and
publications in one of the above mentioned areas.

The salary is according to the German TVöD. The
Max Planck Society is concerned to employ more
disabled people; applications from disabled
people are explicitly sought. The Max Planck
Society wishes to increase the proportion of
women in areas in which they are
underrepresented; women are therefore explicitly
encouraged to apply.

Applicants are requested to send their complete
dossier (including curriculum vitae, description
of research interests, two letters of
recommendation, and a piece of written work on
one of the relevant topics) no later than 30
