<DIV>Friends, As an English teacher of native speakers and now as an ESL teacher let me just point out that after years and years of teaching sentence grammar to children, teens, and adults, there is absolutely no evidence, real scientific study evidence or practical evidence that drilling children on sentence grammr actually improves their written grammar one bit. There is good evidence that programs that obsess on sentence grammar actually have a counterproductive effect: it makes it more difficult for kids to learn written grammar because they're afraid of making mistakes. And as C. Chomsky pointed out in 1969, learning complicated sentence grammar takes kids at least up to 10 year old and beyond. Bruce Richman P. S. Look at Jim Miller and Regina Weinart's book on Spontaneous Spoken Grammar where they also point out that teens and adults don't really command a lot of written sentence grammar until high school and college.
